Wall Treatment for Different Substrates
Getting your base wall right is the foundation for long‑lasting wallpaper and wallcovering results.
Different wall types require unique pre‑installation work before hanging.
Raw bare wall
Use waterproof putty to level the surface.
Straighten inside and outside corners, sand smooth, then apply wall primer.
Your wall is now ready for wallpaper or wallcovering installation.
White cement wall
Never hang wallcoverings directly on white‑cement walls.
Skim the wall with putty first, and apply wall primer afterwards before installation.
Latex‑painted wall
- Good condition paint surface: Simply roll on dedicated wall primer.
- Old, peeling paint: Repair the damaged substrate first. Finish with high‑strength reinforcing primer to strengthen the base.
Smooth glossy wall
Glossy hard surfaces soak up adhesive poorly, which easily leads to bonding failure.
Sand the wall to create a slightly rough texture.
This improves adhesive grip before pasting.
Wood‑based surface
Sink nail heads into the wood and cover them with anti‑rust paint.
Fill the surface with reinforced putty, sand flat, then apply wall primer for installation.
Drywall / Gypsum board
Treat all screw heads with anti‑rust paint to prevent rust stains.
Apply 2‑3 coats of reinforced putty.
Once fully dry, sand smooth and roll on wall primer.
