When mold appears on your wallpaper or wall coverings, take targeted solutions based on how severe the mold infestation is.
1. Mild Mold
Symptoms: Faint mold spots only on the surface of wallpaper or wall coverings, with little impact on the overall appearance.
Solution: Spray a dedicated neutral mold-removal agent directly onto the affected area.
Note: Some wallpaper and wall coverings may fade. Always do a spot test before full-scale application.
Once mold spots are gone, apply anti-mold spray to the mold-affected spots.
Keep the room well-ventilated and dry afterwards. Do NOT wipe mold spots with a towel, as this will spread mold spores to other areas.
2. Moderate Mold
Symptoms: Visible mold spots on the surface. Mold is also present underneath after lifting the material.
The wallpaper starts curling, lifting at edges and deforming.
Solution: Remove the old wallpaper or wall coverings completely.
Spray mold remover for disinfection, followed by anti-mold treatment.
Clean and prepare the wall surface, apply wall primer, then install new wallpaper or wall coverings.
3. Severe Mold
Symptoms: The wall substrate is powdery and delaminated, losing adhesion completely.
Solution: This level of mold is usually caused by water seepage or flooding.
Locate and fix the source of moisture first. Scrape off all wall putty. Apply mold removal and anti-mold agents.
After full drying, re-apply putty, sand the wall, coat with wall primer, then proceed with new wall decoration.
